Manitowoc County EMS Association Meeting Minutes 12/11/2024

The 12/4/2024 meeting of the Manitowoc County EMS Association was cancelled due to severe weather conditions. The meeting was rescheduled for the following Wednesday, Dec. 11. The called to order at 1905 by the president. The meeting is held in person and virtually. The educational portion of the meeting was deferred until the next meeting as the presenter had a scheduling conflict. Roll call taken. A quorum was not present.
Secretary’s Report: The Secretary’s report was presented as printed. The motion was made by Newton and seconded by Cleveland. Motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report: Ending Balances: Checking: $1150.85. Savings: $7415.56. A motion was made to accept the report as presented by Newton and seconded by Branch. Motion was carried.
Old Business:
1. Contact List: The contact list updates were passed around. Items may be sent to the webmaster for other updates. This includes email addresses, phone number, & contact information. Mike Eron added his email with michaeleron@manitowoc.countywi.gov
2. Committee Reports:
a. Emergency Government/Dispatch/Radio: No report submitted
b. Manitowoc County Sheriff Department: Mike reports that they are fully staffed with new hires. Some retirements in 2025. Promotions also happened with Orth, Cummings, Haese, and Tisler all promoted. Polish and Zimmer retire.
3. Protocols: Are in progress with Dr. Sarah working on them
4. Disaster/Training: Bill Manis will present a review of the active shooter drill in January. There is a county wide disaster drill coming on 1/15/24.
5. RTF: Review in January.
6. Education/Training: Follow the website, HERC, & RTAC emails for educational opportunities. Many seminars via HERC are coming up.
7. Medical Directors: No formal report.
8. MABAS: They are working on EMABAS. There is a new program up and running. It is emabas20.com to download the app.
9. NEW RTAC/HERC: Meetings coming up. Can go in person or online. See web sites for grants and updates.
10. Lakeshore Technical College: Name change coming to Lakeshore College. Spring schedule out.
11. By-laws: Discussion on making some changes to the bylaws to include every two years voted on, the vice president not having to move into the president position, and VP elected on even years, president, secretary, and treasurer elected on odd years. Also, discussion on paying the positions of president $100 or $50 annually, vice president $50, secretary and treasurer $150 annually. Multiple prices discussed. A committee was formed officially with Chair Amy Kohlmann, Curt Biely, and John Biely. Further discussion was had, and we will discuss this again. Discussion on whether this is a wage, tax reportable, legalities, etc.
New Business:
1. Nominating Committee: A nominating committee was formed to find candidates for the offices of Vice President and Secretary. The vice president and secretary will be voted on in the even years and president and treasurer on the odd years. The committee volunteers are Amy Kohlmann, Curt Biely, and John Biely. No candidates were presented for Vice president or secretary.
2. Mutual Aid Agreement: Discussion on getting our County EMS mutual aid agreements signed and back on file. Everyone needs to get this into either Mark of Rhonda Green at Manitowoc County.
3. Manitowoc Rapids Fire/EMS: Officially there will be no changes at this time.
4. Next meeting: January 22, 2025 in Reedsville at 7:00 p.m.
A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Newton and seconded by Cleveland. The meeting was adjourned at 1930.
